TONTOGANY - The Otsego Board of Education hired Rick Haskins at a Tuesday special board meeting for its newly-created position of maintenance and transportation supervisor.
Otsego Superintendent Adam Koch said the position, which will pay $53,600 a year, is combined from two other positions, which were maintenance supervisor and transportation supervisor. When the school district consolidated the positions, it laid off two employees to hire Haskins.
The purpose was to save money, and it stands to save the school district an estimated $49,000 a year, Koch said.
Haskins will be responsible for both maintenance and transportation at Otsego schools, as the title suggests.
