Bowling Green Schools is looking for elementary library volunteers.
Tami Lynch is the only certified elementary librarian in the district as a result of budget cuts. In order to keep school libraries open each day for students, the district relies on volunteers to staff the libraries when Lynch is in the other buildings.
She will train volunteers to use the computer and will help learn the routines and layout of the libraries.
Volunteers must have both Ohio and Federal background checks done. This will be done at no cost to library volunteers.
Volunteers could be anyone with an interest in children, reading and learning - parents, grandparents, retirees, community members, and college students.
Volunteers will help students find appropriate materials, check books in and out, shelve books, read to students, and keep the library in order
Help is needed from 9 a.m. to noon, or from noon to 3:15 p.m., once a week or once every other week.
Meetings are planned at each of the elementaries at 9:15 a.m.: Crim on Wednesday, Conneaut on Thursday and Kenwood on Friday.
Anyone interested in volunteering should email Lynch at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
