The show is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International and opens tonight at 7 with additional performances Friday and Saturday, also at 7 p.m. If unfamiliar with the story, "The Music Man" is an affectionate paean to Smalltown, U.S.A. of a bygone era. Meredith Willson's "The Music Man" follows fast-talking traveling salesman Harold Hill as he cons the people of River City, Iowa into buying instruments and uniforms for a boys' band he vows to organize - this despite the fact he doesn't know a trombone from a treble clef. His plans to skip town with the cash are foiled when he falls for Marian the librarian, who transforms him into a respectable citizen by curtain's fall. The cast includes Forrest Bennett as Harold Hill, Katie Hotz as Marian Paroo, Haley Grames as Mrs. Paroo, Dani Smith as Eulalie MacKecknie Shinn, and Matt Wensink as Mayor Shinn. Tickets will be available at the door, and will cost $5 for students 18 and under and seniors 60 and over, and $7 for all other adults.
