Students experienced immigration into America during a P.A.C.E. program, held Monday at Ridge Elementary.
Program participants reenacted the experience of being processed at Ellis Island, dressing up in immigrant clothing and taking an oath of allegiance to the United States.
The evening was the compilation of students work on immigration from 1890-1920. They dressed up in 1880s’ attire as they tried to immigrate through a reproduced Ellis Island.
All Bowling Green elementaries have students in the district’s gifted and talented program, P.A.C.E. (Providing Acceleration, Creativity and Enrichment). The program is for students in grades 3-6. Thirty-two participated Monday.
The evening included the fifth-graders performing a one-act play they wrote.
