The northwest Ohio Soil and Water Conservation Districts are hosting an Energy Education Workshop on July
17.
The event will be held at the Wood County Historical Center and Museum and is for formal and non-formal
educators.
The guest speaker for the morning session will be Rhonda Reda, executive director of the Ohio Oil and Gas
Energy Education Program (OOGEEP). She will present exciting ways to teach information on Ohio’s oil and
gas industry, hydraulic fracturing, energy and more.
Hands-on activities will be lead by Jane Hunt, Upper Arlington science teacher and Jeanne Gogolski,
OOGEEP education specialist.
The afternoon session will feature a tour of the historical center’s oil industry highlights.
Dennis Slotnick, science teacher from Oregon Clay High School will share hands-on activities that
demonstrate alternative energy and how this fits into the big energy picture. Oregon Clay High School
has shown success with its own large-scale wind turbine that has paid for the district’s electricity
bill and sent energy back to the grid.
The workshop begins at 9 a.m. and ends at 3:30 p.m.
There is a $10 registration fee which covers lunch and all materials.
Registration deadline is July 11.
Registration forms are available in the Wood SWCD office, 1616 E. Wooster St., Bowling Green and also on
our website.
