Ridge teacher is Ohio delegate to NEA Convention Stacey Higgins, second grade teacher at Ridge Elementary, will serve as a state delegate to the National Education Association Convention. It begins today and runs through Thursday in Washington, D.C. This is the 150th annual meeting of the association. This year's theme is "NEA: We Educate America." Nearly 9,000 public school teachers and education support professionals are expected to gather to set policy for the year. Otsego combines positions TONTOGANY - The Otsego School Board decided at Tuesday's meeting to reduce two supervisor positions to one. Board president Mark Tolles said the board voted to combine the maintenance supervisor and the transportation supervisor into a single position to both save money and consolidate the position. They have not yet hired anyone to occupy the new title, he said. The board also approved the hiring of two new specific learning disability teachers. Blayze Behney will teach fifth and sixth graders, and Scott Bylow will teach eighth graders at the junior high. Heidelberg aims for $50 million TIFFIN - Heidelberg University officially launched its $50 million fundraising campaign for academics by announcing June 23 that $37 million has already been realized. President Robert H. Huntington broke the news to 500 alumni celebrating Alumni Weekend. Huntington announced that five trustees have stepped up with multi-million-dollar lead gifts. NORTH BALTIMORE - Additional work to the Larry Woodruff Field House was approved by Board of Education members during a special meeting Wednesday. Superintendent Marlene North said the board approved contracts to finish plumbing, electrical work and other interior work to the field house. Also at the meeting, the board hired Stefanie Lauer as a high school English teacher and junior class adviser. |
