Eastwood accepts another retirement, hires new kindergarten teacher PDF Print E-mail

PEMBERVILLE - At the March 19 Eastwood Board of Education meeting, the board accepted the retirement request from high school English teacher Pat Titkemeier, effective May 31.
This brings the number of retirements in the district this year to seven.added to the district With the addition of all-day kindergarten next year, Eastwood might be looking for 10 or more teachers to fill open slots.
In a step to fill that void, the board also hired Shay Nafziger as a kindergarten teacher for the 2013-14 school year.
The board also approved a three-year contract for Phil Donaldson as director of operations; and Sue Volschow as transportation coordinator.
Also at the meeting, the board:
•    commended the athletic accomplishments of Alyssa Decker, Hannah Keiser and Randy Caris; and the music accomplishments of Ellie DeFiesta, Adam Krukemyer, David Krukemyer, Chris Schermerhorn, Anna Rahrig, Stacey Cooper-Bowen, Oceannah Vongphachanh, Logan Baugher, Tyler Herrig and Taylor Wilkins; and Adam Krukemyer as February Student of the Month and Schermerhorn as March Student of the Month.
•    accepted donations of $3,000 from Owens-Illinois for the track and field programs, $500 from the Fraternal Order of Eagles for the athletic department, $2,500 from the Monsanto Community Fund for the FFA program, $376.78 from the Rand and Mike Aring Memorial Scholarship to the FFA program, $89.01 from Denise Eckel and Family to the FFA program, and $100 from the Calvin Gerwin Memorial Scholarship for the FFA camp.
