Owens Community College students recently were honored for their excellence in higher education, earning membership into the Alpha Omega Pi Chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society for fall semester. Selection criterion for students receiving the honor is based upon enrollment in a two-year college, completing a minimum number of course hours set forth by the individual chapter, achieving a minimum 3.5 grade point average and exemplifying academic excellence, as determined by faculty. Local students inducted include: Dana Almester, Rossford; Tyler Baer, Portage; Amanda Boyer, Millbury; Kala Butler, Bowling Green; Sarah Cook, Bloomdale; Christina Mock, Northwood; and Debra Baker, Sarah Barker, Allison Brinkman, Ashley Kravetsky, Shayna Lindley, Peggy Shane, Alex Steinline, Michael Suhan, Danielle Urbaniak, Mark Waggoner, and Krissada Wongsa, all of Perrysburg.
Jessica Jensen, Millbury, is a leader of The Well at Ashland University. Jensen is majoring in early childhood education. She is the daughter of Steven and Carol Jensen of Millbury and a 2010 graduate of Genoa Area High School. The Well is a campus ministry at Ashland University dedicated to being "focused on Jesus, fueled by the Spirit, as we follow the Father."
