Hilfiker, Elmwood Elem. each win one

The Hilfiker Elementary team from Gibsonburg defeated Elmwood Elementary, 72-64 on Feb. 4, but turned around and lost to Elmwood, 62-58 on Feb. 6.
High scorers for both matches were Jonah Vann for Hilfiker and Cassie Bechstein for Elmwood.
Coaches are Erika Montgomery for Hilfiker and Sandy Laborie for Elmwood.

Eastwood defeats Elmwood, Hilfiker

The Eastwood elementary quiz bowl team has defeated Elmwood, 94 to 54, and Gibsonburg's Hilfiker, 74-36.
Lewis Rowan was the lead scorer for Eastwood in both matches. Holly Chappuies is the coach.
Top scorers for Elmwood were Cassie Bechstein. Sandy Laborie is the coach.
Megan Widmer was the top scorer for Hilfiker. Erika Montgomery is the coach.

Owens to hold College Preview Night on both campuses PDF Print E-mail

Owens Community College is offering a College Preview Night on both its main campus and its site in Findlay.
At the Perrysburg Township campus, more than 100 public and private colleges and universities from Ohio and the multi-state area will visit Wednesday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the Student Health and Activities Center and the Center for Fine and Performing Arts.
In Findlay, more than 80 public and private colleges and universities will visit on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Health and Wellness Center.
The events will provide prospective students the opportunity to visit with various college and university representatives and learn about financial aid, student activities, academic program offerings, athletic eligibility, accommodations for students with special needs, and more.
In addition, representatives from local financial institutions will be present to provide information on student loans. Represent-atives of the various military branches will also be on hand to discuss admission to military academies and  ROTC.

This year, nursing students at Lourdes University are putting aside the traditional classroom environment for real-world learning overseas through four unique international opportunities offered in Africa (Lesotho), Haiti, the Dominican Republic, and Peru.
Rosemary Ball, of Perrysburg, traveled with Lesotho transcultural nursing education trip Jan. 1 - 12.
A unique two-part course titled Nursing 450: Transcultural Experiences in Health Care, gave Lourdes students the chance to learn about the history, culture, health, and health care of Lesotho, Africa. Bounded on all sides by South Africa, Lesotho is a sovereign kingdom, ranking 3rd in the world for HIV/AIDS population.

Bowling Green Middle School will host an open house for incoming sixth-grade students on March 10 from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
The event will begin with regi registration information in the Performing Arts Center. Afterwards, parents and students can tour the building, speak to Core Plus Teachers and participate in "Festival of the Arts" activities such as a community art project, instrument exploration, live performances and culinary activities.  Contact BGMS at 419-354-0200 for more information.

PERRYSBURG - Perrysburg Junior High Drama Club has chosen "Thoroughly Modern Millie" as its winter musical production.
The production will be performed on Feb. 27 and 28 at 7 p.m. and March 1 at 1 p.m. in the junior high auditorium.
All performances are open to the public, and tickets will be sold for $9 at the door.
There are 51 PJH students in the cast, four in the dance troupe and 42 in the crew. The 35-person pit orchestra includes PJH students, high school students and professional musicians and students from Bowling Green State University. In total, there are 103 PJH and 14 Perrysburg High School students involved.
