JERRY CITY - Elmwood High School senior Justin Krouse has found time for the football, basketball, wrestling and track teams, the student council and the National Honor Society as well as his studies.
Krouse met with coaches from University of Toledo, Harvard, Princeton and the University of Indianapolis. He says, "I wanted to play football somewhere and I wanted to do engineering and I wasn't going to bend either way."
The Rose-Hulman Institute won him over.
"I loved the campus, loved the coaches. I spent the night there and knew it was the place for me, I decided the day after."
His mother, Nancy Krouse, said, "He's not nervous, he's really excited to play football and learn engineering. I think it's me with all the reserve" about the long distance.

Legislation requires immunization for licensed day-care providers PDF Print E-mail

State Representative Tim Brown (R-Bowling Green) has cosponsored legislation that would require children who are enrolled in licensed day-care centers to have recommended immunizations.
House Bill 536, introduced with bipartisan sponsorship, would require children to be vaccinated in accordance with recommendations by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Children must be vaccinated prior to entering kindergarten, but Ohio is the only state that does not mandate vaccines for preschool and day care.
"There is nothing more important than ensuring the health and welfare of our children, especially when they have been entrusted to a school or daycare facility. This bill will help bring Ohio in line with the health standards already in place in 49 other states," Brown said.
