'Angel Tree' at Eastwood PDF Print E-mail

PEMBERVILLE - "An Angel Tree Christmas" will be performed Dec. 1 in the Eastwood High School Auditorium.
The event, beginning at 2 p.m., will feature local talent and choirs performing holiday favorites.
The performance is a fund raising event to benefit the local Angel Tree program. A free-will offering will be collected.
The Angel Tree program provides clothing, toys and meals for more than 40 families and at least 120 children.
Attendees will also be able to bid on dozens of holiday baskets on display before and during the performance.

Beth Kelly, a kindergarten teacher at Paulding Elementary School in Paulding, has been named the 2013 Ohio History Teacher of the Year.
The award is co-sponsored by The Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History, HISTORY and the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation on behalf of its Preserve America program.
A veteran teacher with nearly 20 years of experience at the pre-K and elementary level, Kelly grew up in Paulding County and graduated from Paulding High School. She holds a bachelor's degree in early childhood education from the University of Toledo and a master of education degree from Bowling Green State University. She has been named both a Martha Holding Jennings Scholar and a Master Teacher by Paulding Exempted Village Schools.

PERRYSBURG - Petals and Plants, a flower and gift shop operated by high school students in the Floral Design/Greenhouse Production program at Penta Career Center, will host a Holiday Open House on Nov. 20 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Nov. 21 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Nov. 22 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The event will take place inside Petals and Plants located on the Penta campus at 9301 Buck Road in Perrysburg Township.
Visitor parking for the Holiday Open House is located adjacent to the Floral Design/Greenhouse Production lab near the large greenhouse. Visitors should follow the Penta campus signs to the designated parking area.

Otsego hosts choir concert
TONTOGANY - Otsego High School will host "A Choral Extravaganza" Sunday at 3 p.m.
The event will be held in the school's performing arts center.
The Choral Extravaganza will feature six area high school choirs, including Arcadia, Bowling Green, Montpelier, Otsego, Whitmer and Van Buren.
The first half of the presentation will feature each choir performing a selection of their choice. During the second half, the choirs will combine under the direction of Dr. Matthew Armstrong to present three of his original compositions, along with John Rutter's "Gloria" accompanied by brass choir, percussion and organ.
The concert is free and open to the public.
