BGSU names scholarship recipients PDF Print E-mail

More than 55 students in Bowling Green State University's College of Health and Human Services received scholarships this spring.
The largest single award, the Benz Family Allied Health Excellence Scholarship, worth $5,000, went to Cody Smith, a junior from Bowling Green.
Smith, a junior majoring in applied health sciences with a specialization in pre-physical therapy and a minor in gerontology, is a 2011 graduate of Eastwood High School in Pemberville and the son of Larry and Amy Smith. He is an Orientation Leader, Honors Ambassador and a member of the Honors Program and Dance Marathon Core Committee.
A number of other local students also received scholarships.
Matthew Milligan, a junior majoring in applied health sciences, was awarded the Wood County Hospital Foundation Scholarship in the amount of $1,000. He is a 2010 graduate of Bowling Green High School and the son of Daphne Milligan and Clyde Milligan. He is a member of Phi Eta Sigma and Alpha Lambda Delta honor societies, a certified personal trainer at the Bowling Green Community Center and has been placed on the dean's list at BGSU every semester.
Amber Court, a junior majoring in applied health sciences, was the recipient of the Advocates Board Scholarship in the amount of $1,000. She is a 2010 graduate of William Mason High School in West Chester. She is a member of the American Medical Students Association, Pre-Physical Therapy Club, Phi Eta Sigma and Sigma Alpha Phi. She now lives in Bowling Green.
Laura Rochester, a junior majoring in nursing, was awarded an Olive H. Schlink Nursing Scholarship in the amount of $1,000. She is a 2010 graduate of Bowling Green High School and the daughter of Dean and Nancy Rochester. She is a member of Phi Eta Sigma Honors Society and the Student Nurses Association and has been placed on the dean's list at BGSU.
Blythe Caldwell, a senior majoring in applied health sciences with a specialization in applied microbiology, was a recipient of the Dr. Albert G. Schlink Applied Health Science Scholarship in the amount of $2,500. She is a 2004 graduate of Clearfolk High School in Bellville, and holds an associate of science degree from BGSU Firelands. She is a sciences tutor at the Learning Commons, a technician at North American Science Associates and a past recipient of other scholarships. She has been placed on the dean's list at BGSU every semester. She currently lives in Perrysburg.
Emily Bockbrader, a summa cum laude graduate in nursing, was awarded the Outstanding Senior in Nursing award. She is a 2009 graduate of Eastwood High School in Pemberville. She was a member of Omicron Delta Kappa and Sigma Theta Tau, a resources representative for the College of Health and Human Services and a scholar in the Sidney A. Ribeau President's Leadership Academy.
Heather Watson, a sophomore nursing major of Weston, was awarded a BGSU Nursing Scholarship in the amount of $1,000. She is a 2011 graduate of Otsego High School. She is manager of the BGSU Gymnastics Team and a coach at Next Level Gymnastics, and has been placed on the dean’s list at BGSU.
Linda Gill, an RN/BSN nursing graduate, was awarded the Outstanding Senior in Nursing RN/BSN award. She is a 1982 graduate of Bowling Green High School and a 2000 graduate of Owens Community College in registered nursing.
Ashley Glanz, a senior majoring in nursing, was awarded the Dr. Ruth L. Kelly Alumni Nursing Scholarship in the amount of $1,000. She is a 2009 graduate of Otsego High School. She is a member of Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society and the Student Nurses Association and has been placed on the dean’s list at BGSU.
