BGHS bowler top 12 in nation

Bowling Green High School bowler Kelsey Parker, of Weston, as been named one of 12 recipients in the
United States of a $1,000 "Gift For Life" scholarship.
The International Bowling Campus Youth Committee selected the scholarship recipients. The announcement
was made Friday.
Gift For Life Scholarships annually are awarded to USBC Youth members who show the need for financial
assistance to obtain a college education. Applicants must be high school students who are United States
Bowling Congress Youth members and have a GPA of 2.5 or higher. Applicants also were asked to discuss
their community service, supply two letters of recommendation and submit an essay.
The scholarship is managed through the SMART program. In honor of the 9/11 heroes, each year two of the
scholarships are awarded to children of fire, police, or emergency rescue personnel. This year, five of
the recipients are the children of police or firefighters.
