|Benson earns Lyle B. Wright scholarship|

Josephine Benson, a senior at Bowling Green High School, was named a recipient of a $2,000 Lyle B. Wright Scholarship, one of four awarded by American Municipal Power, Inc. (AMP).
Benson was nominated for the scholarship by Bowling Green Municipal Utilities.
She received the award at Monday's Bowling Green Council meeting.
AMP is the nonprofit wholesale power supplier and services provider for 129 member municipal electric systems in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Virginia, Kentucky, West Virginia and Delaware.
The AMP Board of Trustees established the scholarship in memory of Lyle B. Wright, former Bowling Green utilities director and a strong public power advocate who served on the organization's Board of Trustees from 1979 until his death in 1986. The $2,000 scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors whose household receives electricity from an AMP member utility.
Benson was named to the Bowling Green High School honor roll each quarter throughout her high school career. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society and received numerous academic awards and acknowledgments, including being a semifinalist for the U.S. Presidential Scholar Award. She was an accomplished high school athlete lettering in soccer, receiving the BGHS MVP award and being named to the League All Star Team. During her high school career, Benson was involved in the Key Club, Spanish Club, First Amendment Club and Drama Club. She was selected as Ohio's female delegate to the National Science Foundation's Youth Science Camp and was a member of the Ohio Academy of Science. Benson has actively volunteered with a number of school and community groups.
Benson plans to attend Brown University and major in biochemistry and Latin American/Caribbean Studies.
