When the Downtown Farmers' Market opens for its fourth season on May 22, visitors will be able to sample the winning recipe in the first of six recipe contests being held over the course of the season.
That winning recipe just might be yours, if you submit it before the April 24 deadline.
The Farm Fresh Recipe Contest, which celebrates the best of regionally grown foods by showcasing them in local chefs' best recipes, focuses on preparing fresh foods available at the Downtown Farmers' Market.  Organizers say the contest rules are simple, just like the goodness found in fresh fruits and vegetables.  The most important rule is to use the contest's featured produce as a primary ingredient.
Judges from several organizations, including Wood County Hospital, Heritage Corner Health Care Campus, The Sentinel-Tribune and Bowling Green State University's Departments of Recreation and Wellness and Family and Consumer Sciences, will use a handful of criteria to rate the submissions.  They include taste, ease of preparation, healthfulness, and the use of ingredients available at the Downtown Farmers' Market.
