WESTON - Family and friends would probably say Jacki Murphy is best known for her cheesecakes. She would have to agree.
But most recently she got noticed for a different sort of dessert entirely, a kind of blueberry crunch known as Billie's Blueberry Dessert.
Murphy made the dish for a May 30 potluck and bake-off at Sonlight Church and Community Center. It was the final event in a multi-week series called the Andy Griffith Bible Study. The potluck, featured in two other Cook's Corner columns this summer, focused on recipes from the popular Aunt Bee's Mayberry Cookbook as a natural tie-in.
"The blueberry dish was delicious," praised Glenda Boggs, wife of pastor Chris Boggs.
"It was kind of sweet and tart at the same time, with the lemon juice in it," Murphy says, explaining what makes the dessert so memorable.
"The overall response was that it was really good; that they liked it."
Murphy, a busy mom of four, including three stepkids, has to drive to Findlay every day for her job at Whirlpool. She chose this recipe to make for two main reasons.
