T-shirt sales benefit programs for BG Parks and Recreation

At Bowling Green Middle School, sixth-grade students in health class were asked to design a logo to
encourage students and people in the community to stay fit and be healthy.
A winner was chosen and that logo was used to create a T-shirt that will be sold by students of both the
health and technology classes at the school. Students are in charge of marketing, sales, and
distribution of the shirts.
Order forms are available at city parks, at the middle school office, or through participating health and
technology students.
The shirt sales will help raise money for Bowling Green Parks and Recreation.
The money may go toward Camp for Kids, which raises money for kids living in low-income households to
play sports and do other activities during the summer.
The money made may also go towards turning the former Ridge School into a city park.
Other initiatives the money may go to are new athletic fields behind the community center, a second slide
for the pool at City Park, or maybe even an upgrade for the Nature Center.
Fitness is very important for health and that is why the class is encouraging it in the community.
Being physically fit can strengthen the heart, will build the immune system, will lower stress levels and
slow down the aging process.
The Bowling Green Parks and Recreation have some summer programs that helps kids to get out and active.
They include Wet-N-Wild, Hawaiian Hullaballoo, Construction Zone, Artapalooza, basketball, volleyball,
skateboarding, Wilderness Explorers and Garden Friends.
Shirt sales will go through May 22 and can be paid for through checks only to BGMS PTO. Pick up is June
2-4 at the middle school from 2 to 4 p.m. Sizes run from adult extra small to an adult XXXL.
The cost for one T-shirt is $10 but an adult XXL and up is $12.50.
