Humane society adopted 16 cats, 17 dogs in June

The Wood County Humane Society employs a humane agent to investigate reports of neglect, cruelty, and
abuse from concerned citizens, social services, health departments, and other law enforcement agencies.

The following cruelty report was submitted by humane agent Debbie Loprete for June.
This past month, Loprete handled a total of 38 cases – 34 of which she successfully resolved, four of
which are still pending further investigation.
Of the 34 closed cases, eight were filed with "reason for concern," nine resulted in the
administering of additional education, four are pending court cases, three resulted in referrals to
other agencies, four were filed "unable to locate," and six were filed under "reason for
concern."
Loprete also conducted 31 follow-ups to ongoing and/or closed cases during the month of June.
During the same month, the WCHS took a total of 22 cats and 12 dogs into the shelter. Of the cats, 20
were strays and two were returns. The WCHS also adopted out 16 cats and 17 dogs during the month of
June.
