Beginning July 1, WSOS will coordinate services in Wood County for the county’s Help Me Grow program.
Applicants can find information at WSOS’ Jordan Family Development Center, 112 N. College Dr. However,
referrals will be accepted starting Monday.
Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities Wood Lane will continue to provide early intervention
services and supports for eligible children birth to age 3 and their families. Mercy Children’s Hospital
will provide home visitation services.
Help Me Grow is a program administered by the Ohio Department of Health through the local Family and
Children First Councils. The Wood County Family and Children First Council, administered by Wood County
Department of Job and Family Services, has contracted with WSOS to serve eligible at-risk children birth
to age 3 and their families.
WSOS will ensure that services needed by the eligible families are provided by qualified personnel.
Service coordinators will work in partnership with families to recognize and support the families as the
central decision-makers about their families’ needs.
Help Me Grow offers two voluntary programs to prenatal women, children, and families:
• HMG early intervention provides family-centered services for infants and toddlers to age 3 with a
developmental delay, disability, or a medical condition likely to result in a delay or disability.
• HMG home-visiting provides first-time expectant or new parents the information and support they need to
prepare for the birth of their child and provides ongoing education and support for families to maximize
their child’s health and development to age 3.
Home visiting matches parents with a trained home visitor who comes to wherever the family lives. Their
home visitor is a friendly, trained, and experienced person who can answer questions about pregnancy or
being a parent, and can help find services to help families care for themselves and their children.
