U.S. Navy Ensign Michael P. Watrol, son of Robert and Laurie Watrol, Rossford, graduated from the United
States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland on May 23 and was commissioned as an officer in the Navy.

After being honored last week at a Rossford City Council meeting, Watrol said he decided he wanted to go
to the Naval Academy in fifth grade when he first saw a senior from the school.
With the sharp uniform, including a sword, the young Watrol knew where he wanted to go to school.
The 2010 graduate of St. Francis De Sales High School, Toledo, received his appointment to the academy
from U.S. Rep. Robert Latta.
Watrol completed four years of intensive academic, physical, and professional training, resulting in a
Bachelor of Science in Engineering Degree with a major in Political Science and minor in French. As a
graduate of the Naval Academy, Watrol completed a four-year, total immersion program with strong,
balanced academic program, focused on the educational needs of the Navy and Marine Corps, and
superimposed on a strict, professional military training environment emphasizing the development of
skills.
According to a Navy release: "The mission of the United States Naval Academy is to develop
midshipmen morally, mentally, and physically for the privilege of serving as leaders of Sailors and
Marines who have volunteered to serve our country."
Watrol will continue his training at the Naval Air Station Pensacola where he will attend flight school
to pursue his goal of being a pilot.
