Community project ideas sought for grant funding

TOLEDO – Toledo SOUP is now accepting ideas for its Summer Luau event to be held June 22 in the Mad Ave
Collective, 1600 Madison Ave.
Anyone in the Toledo community, as well as its surrounding suburbs, is eligible to submit a proposal.
Toledo SOUP can help provide funding with microgrants up to $1,000 for ideas for a community-minded
project, or business, non-profit, club or organization.
Past presenters have discussed everything from art, music and theater workshops to after school programs
and hunger initiatives.
All ideas that meet Toledo SOUP’s requirements will be sent to a panel of community judges for further
review.
The top five ideas, as agreed upon by the judges, will have the opportunity to present at the event on
June 22.
Grant recipients are selected through a community voting process, and funding is received at the end of
the event.
Toledo SOUP’s most recent winners include Derek Bunch of New Life Urban Agriculture and Elizabeth Harris
of Glass City Goat Gals.
Previous Toledo SOUP winners were Maxwell Austin of Glass City Pedicabs, Genevieve Abalos of Art of Hope
and Audrey Johnson of Art Around Town.
Prospective presenters have until May 31 to submit ideas online.
