Benefit Saturday for BGHS students injured in accident
A benefit dinner is planned for Saturday for two Bowling Green High School students injured in a vehicle
crash.
Morgan Russell and Shelby Stephenson were involved in a crash March 3.
Morgan is continuing treatment and therapy, and Shelby has had major surgery on her hip, pelvis and
collar bones and was in and out of ICU but is now home.
The spaghetti dinner will be at Fraternal Order of Eagles, 1163 N. Main St., from 4 p.m until gone.
There will be a silent auction, raffles and a DJ.
Funds raised will be donated to help pay for ongoing medical treatment.
Poppy Day Sat. in Perrysburg
PERRYSBURG – VFW Post 6170 will hold its annual Poppy Day Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Churchill’s
Supermarket and Kazmaier’s 5 Star.
Proceeds go to the rehabilitation and care of veterans at a facility in Eaton Rapids, Mich.
Cinco de Mayo Saturday in BG
On Saturday, the Bowling Green Human Relations Commission will host the 21st annual Cinco de Mayo
Festival at Veteran’s Hall, Bowling Green City Park, from 6 p.m. to midnight.
This year, display/vendor tables are planned, as are a pinata for children plus an arts and crafts table;
authentic Mexican food and music; and some local Latino performers.
DJ Mari will provide Tejano music from 9 to midnight. Food will be available for purchase from 6 to 11
p.m.
The event is free and open to the public.
BG food distribution Friday
The free food distribution at First United Methodist Church, 1526 E. Wooster St., will be Friday from 10
to 11:30 a.m.
Sun. breakfast aids firefighters
ROSSFORD – The Rossford Firefighters Association will sponsor an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast Sunday
from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the fire station, 133 Osborn St.
Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children under 5 years OLD.
There will be 50/50 raffles and helmets for the youngsters.
Proceeds will benefit the families of Toledo firefighters Stephen Machcinski and James Dickman, who gave
their lives on duty Jan. 26.
Baked steak Sun. at Bradner
BRADNER – The Bradner American Legion will serve a baked steak dinner Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.,
209 W. Crocker St.
The meal will include mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, dinner rolls, pie and beverage.
The cost is $7 and carryouts are available by calling 419-288-3634.

Perrysburg ‘Cinco’ is Monday
PERRYSBURG – In celebration of Cinco de Mayo, El Corazon de Mexico will perform folkloric dances from the
Mexican States of Guerrero, Campeche, Baja California and Jalisco. El Corazon de Mexico is a Toledo
based folkloric dance company established in 1996 by Director Elaina Hernandez.
This free performance is Monday at 7 p.m. in Way Public Library. Special refreshments will be served for
this festive occasion.
Rotary pancakes Mon. at Waterville
WATERVILLE – Waterville Rotary Club will hold a pancake supper Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Waterville
Primary School Cafeteria, 473 Sycamore Lane.
Tickets are $6 for adults and $4 for students. Proceeds support the club’s Otsego and Anthony Wayne
scholarship program and other community projects.
Entertainment will be by Waterville Primary students.

Bowling Green Rotary Club will hear Wood County Sherriff- Mark Wasylyshyn at 11:40 a.m. May 8 at Bowling
Green Country Club.
Kiwanis to hear about fracking
The Bowling Green Kiwanis Club will hear a presentation on fracking organic shale from Bob Vincent, a
Professor Emeritus of Geology from Bowling Green State University, at noon May 8 at Stone Ridge Golf
club.
Humane society seeks items for sale
The Wood County Humane Society has announced donation dates for its annual garage sale which will be held
May 22-24 under the grandstand at the Wood County Fairgrounds.
Donations of clothing, household items, electronics, furniture, toys, collectibles and other good and
useful items will be accepted at that location May 19, 20 and 21 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
All donations to the sale are tax deductible.
Over the years the garage sale has raised more than $160,000 for the care of animals at the Minniebelle
Conley Shelter on Van Camp Road.

Chess club meets Tuesday
The Bowling Green Chess Club meets Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. at Grounds for Thought.

Author Joyce Thomas will talk about overcoming bipolar disorder, Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the
Findlay-Hancock County Public Library.
