To the Editor: Health care reform needs public option brutus 2009-10-12 13:27:29 Not about revenge. Just getting legislation that the majority wants. And it will work if they do it. When your premiums go down you will be thanking people like me.
To the Editor: Public option needed useyourhead 2009-10-12 13:28:35 They are not my beloved insurance companies. I never said I has happy with the current system. If you have read any of my other posts, you will have seen that. Health care reform is needed no doubt. But the public option is not the only option. Other avenues must be explored. Universal Health Care in Massachusetts doesn't seem to be working very well. This strategy, known as employer and individual mandates, also forms the backbone of reform bills making their way through Congress. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB123811121310853037.html

To the Editor: Present health care is failing us maxx 2009-10-12 17:36:12 If health care is a "human right", then should doctors be able to charge for it? (Brutus, you may begin the name calling)
To the Editor: Public option needed useyourhead 2009-10-12 17:40:03 haha, I bet he does. I'm sure he is impartial. These are a few sites of interest. I did not include any "fox" type sites just for you brutus. Universal health care just doesn't work. Nothing personal, it's just doesn't. http://www.pnhp.org/mass_report/mass_report_Final.pdf http://www.nytimes.com/2009/07/15/us/15insure.html http://www.forbes.com/2009/07/29/health-reform-massachusetts-opinions-contributors-obama-insurance.html
To the Editor: Public option needed maxx 2009-10-12 17:41:37 Mark, you make it sound like the insurance companies are the only ones 'lobbying' your beloved government officials. What about the trial lawyers, defense contractors, unions, NEA, etc.....
Perrysburg challenges collective bargaining Disgusted With Perrysburg Council 2009-10-12 18:56:20 Amazing, they lost and all of the sudden it is a problem. Public service unions have to accept this, just as governments do. These type of unions cannot strike, nor can government lock them out. This law was created for just that reason. The current councils members in Perrysburg are so far from reality it is amazing. They want to run the city as if it is a for profit business. They need to reevaluate who THEY work for, us the taxpayers and run the city like a city and not a consultant firm. However they never seem to listen to consultants either, but that is for a different rant. Can we challenge other laws or just the ones that do not allow the little dictators on current council to act high and mighty?
To the Editor: Government has run some successful programs AJ Dukes 2009-10-12 20:40:28 The United States of ASIA thanks Obama for such a well run program. I'm sure they'll be sending money for his re-election campaign shortly! He's the best President they've ever had!

Portage mayor behind on taxes annie 2009-10-13 06:07:25 I can not believe the mayor has not pasid his 1% taxes yes that he initiated without the public knowledge, oh yes that's right there was a notice on the wall somewhere in the post office if that's not corrupt. But yet he has not paid his dues wow how much does Portage get from EVERY employee of the group homes who work there on Portage road I believe TOO much for what there is. Nothing, there no gas station no carryout oh wait Clancy's carpet cash and carry for limited hours and stale chips or flat outdated soda that was from my one and only visit at that fine store.Horray for the increase speed limit and the soon removed stop light. If someone needs a traffic light tp turn at that metropolis intersection then they should Not be driving. Hey I know if you want to cross the street there Stop and Look Both Ways
To the Editor: Present health care is failing us maxx 2009-10-13 08:56:36 It was a simple question brutus. If health care is a 'human right', doesn't that mean that EVERYONE is ENTITLED to it? And if EVERYONE is ENTITLED to it, then how is it fair to charge for it? Your answer of 'Huh?' either shows your ignorance or your inability to answer the question. (Again, you may now begin your trademark name calling & in doing so, avoid having to answer)
To the Editor: Present health care is failing us brutus 2009-10-13 09:08:21 Your question makes no sense. Do we pay the military, police, fire? All rights in the Constitution. And it you who started name calling. Is that a fantasy of yours to be called a name?

To the Editor: Present health care is failing us maxx 2009-10-13 12:02:31 there's a difference between constitutional rights & human rights. Human rights are universal. example: China is constantly violating human rights. not every country has a constitution like we do. And yes we do pay for fire, police, & military protection. None of these people do their jobs for free. (the military being the grossly underpaid of the three). What should we limit doctors pay to anyway?
To the Editor: Questions asked about Issue 2 farmer's daughter 2009-10-13 16:42:53 Are you ready to pay $6 dozen eggs? Go and look at California who has another year to "conform" farm practices to the PETA laws and see the price of food rise in the next few months. In this economic climate are you ready to pay for $10 lb ground beef? No you will support buying the beef, chicken, and pork from Mexico, Canada, or any other country who won't have these restrictions. McDonalds doesn't why not all of us. Where will the small family farmers sell the corn and soybeans? Oh thats right you are trying to set example to the factory farmers will the family farmer get a better price. Nope all farmers will be hurt.

To the Editor: 'Cap and Trade' bill will force jobs elsewhere brutus 2009-10-14 08:11:15 If our corporations don't want to save our environment and stop poisoning our air then they need to move to another country. It is time in this country to say to these Corporations if you move your jobs overseas then move your families there along with them. And oh by the way, since you don't care about our environment your products are not welcome in the good ole U.S.A.
Portage existence depends on levy BGcitizenPORTAGEworker 2009-10-14 08:14:24 Portage township government is a piece of shit almost as bad as their janitorial-class police department. I for one will celebrate to see the pretentious little "village" administration dissolve. There is NOTHING there except a speed trap for revenue. Since the state is making THAT go away, there is nothing left but a residential backwater no-man's-land. I am not alone in my disdain for such a piss-poor excuse for a government. Portage does not need a police department, especially when they can only hire untrained bums to pull trucks over and hand out petty traffic infractions to prop up their mentally handicapped judges and council. The residents of the area are better off without such morons trying to play "infrastructure" in the middle of nowhere.

To the Editor: All Americans should have a right to health security brutus 2009-10-14 08:18:14 At the very least America's Affordable Health Choice's Act.
Abu Ghraib guard appeals to U.S. military high court outraged 2009-10-14 08:20:39 Seriously? 6 months? This was a sexual assault crime. She should at least be getting 10 years. Oops, I forgot Americans were entertained and the US military encourages this sort of thing. Hence, the slap on the wrist! Pathetic.
Beth A. Hoot Laurel Martin 2009-10-14 09:39:46 I was so sorry to read of Beth's passing. I knew her from the hospital and need the family to know that she helped me many, many times. To the Editor: Online comments should have full names of those expressing opinions brutus 2009-10-14 10:10:19 All that would do is reduce debate Ryan. You would never know those thoughts were out there, whether pro or con, if it wasn't like this.
To the Editor: Focus on solutions, not shouting brutus 2009-10-14 13:18:43 Just as some posters on here, those who shouted and screamed have no ideas.
To the Editor: 'Cap and Trade' bill will force jobs elsewhere Kurt (who's sick of losing liberty) 2009-10-14 14:06:19 I find it incredible that you would encourage something like this and are ok to the reality that this WOULD send jobs/good paying jobs away to a foreign country. Additionally you seem bent on have an environmental idea pushed through regardless of the consequences. And who pays for this??? Those citizens who pay the taxes and where did they earn purchasing power and government revenue generation? Many from these seemingly evil corps you’re so quickly dismiss as the root of so many problems Brutus. So let run this out....Cap n' Trade passes, taxes on emissions go through the roof, companies move out of the States, jobs lost, unemployment goes up, tax revenue down. You cut your own throat and call it all good for the sake of the environment. When you put co2 outputs above the importance of humans, it would seem like a sick world you’d like us to live in here.
To the Editor: Medical health care ignored useyourhead 2009-10-14 14:29:11 That system is already in place for kids. There is another factor most people don't take into consideration. The people that reproduced when they don't have enough sense to take care of themselves let alone a child. We can give them all the health care in the world and they still wouldn't have a clue. Education of the parent(s) is what is needed.
To the Editor: 'Cap and Trade' bill will force jobs elsewhere brutus 2009-10-14 14:32:01 With the rate of Autism going thru the roof, you tell me Kurt who pays? What a fascist.
To the Editor: Focus on solutions, not shouting useyourhead 2009-10-14 14:40:04 It's simple. Swallow some pride, forget about your party line and work together to come up with a solution based on facts. Voting and arguing your parties point of view is just stupid. Neither the dems or repubs are doing what is best for the people. Just a &$@* power struggle. The current system needs worked. The proposed system, public option, is being used (Mass) and is not working as they thought it would. Yet people are still pushing for it. Unbelievable.
To the Editor: 'Cap and Trade' bill will force jobs elsewhere useyourhead 2009-10-14 14:46:11 "If our corporations don't want to save our environment and stop poisoning our air then they need to move to another country." Ummmm. The air over the USA could be the cleanest in the world and our environment would still suffer from the polution of another country. haha
To the Editor: All Americans should have a right to health security useyourhead 2009-10-14 14:54:27 How is that working out for Massachusetts? What the current proposed plan is based on. People that didn't have health care because they couldn't afford it, now have health care at a reduced rate. They still can't afford the co-pays or perscriptions. The state can't afford to keep doing what they are doing, so they are looking for ways to reduce care and putting caps on how much is spent. Waiting to see a Dr. is increasing substantially. I am all for health care reform, don't get me wrong. Public option just isn't the answer.
To the Editor: Focus on solutions, not shouting brutus 2009-10-14 15:14:45 I see you and the Reich wing learned a new word. Massachusetts. Hate word of the week.
To the Editor: All Americans should have a right to health security brutus 2009-10-14 15:23:49 The Mass. plan is not like the Public Option being proposed by the Health committee in the Senate nor the one in the House. The mass. plan was a giveaway to private ins. like what is being proposed by the Senate finance committee. This plan won't see the light of day.
To the Editor: 'Cap and Trade' bill will force jobs elsewhere brutus 2009-10-14 15:27:02 Whatever. Gee is that what other countries think since we were the world's biggest polluter?
To the Editor: Focus on solutions, not shouting useyourhead 2009-10-14 15:33:01 Sorry brutus. Facts are facts. Embarce the facts and lets move on.
To the Editor: 'Cap and Trade' bill will force jobs elsewhere useyourhead 2009-10-14 15:36:28 That would be China. Facts please. Thank you.
To the Editor: Focus on solutions, not shouting brutus 2009-10-14 16:25:47 Party lines? Tort reform, which Ohio and 34 other states already have and did not save one dime, and selling insurance across state lines, which will do nothing but let big insurance price fix and skirt state laws are not party line? Not one idea from you or your friends to help the working people.
To the Editor: 'Cap and Trade' bill will force jobs elsewhere brutus 2009-10-14 16:30:19 We were, fact, until we moved all of jobs overseas for greed and to skirt environmental issues. Nice companies huh, poison us 1st and then go poison poor people in other countries. Do you agree with this practice?
To the Editor: Online comments should have full names of those expressing opinions Ryan Patton 2009-10-14 17:44:32 I believe it would avert the frivolous bickering of the doltish few and allow for rational commentary. Putting your name to your words, would add integrity to your perspective. What is written on this site, is not debate.
To the Editor: Focus on solutions, not shouting useyourhead 2009-10-14 18:11:49 CBO concludes that limiting malpractice liability would reduce total national health care spending by about one-half of 1 percent, or about $11 billion this year. That would save taxpayers about $41 billion over the next decade in lower Medicare, Medicaid and other federal spending for health care. The economists found that between 1991 and 2002, medical expenditures grew by 34 percent while malpractice payments grew by 65 percent. Their data, they said, "would imply that, over this period, the growth in malpractice payments added 5.1% to the growth in medical expenditures, or about 15% of the total growth." http://factcheck.org/2009/10/malpractice-savings-reconsidered/ Competition? Isn't that a big part of the public option? Encouraging competition. If I were the only person selling tenalicas, I could charge what ever I want. If there were many people selling tenalicas, and my price was to high, then I would have way to many tenalicas.
To the Editor: 'Cap and Trade' bill will force jobs elsewhere useyourhead 2009-10-14 18:21:43 Yes we were. Yes, companies moved overseas, down south and up north. They are in business to make money. Look around you bruts. How much stuff in your house is made overseas? Look in your driveway. When you realize how much you have contributed to "those comapanies" then change your ways, then you will have a right to complain.
To the Editor: Focus on solutions, not shouting brutus 2009-10-14 18:44:27 OHIO HAS TORT REFORM SINCE 2004. How much did your bill go down? And how about you and your fellow un Americans sign a pledge not to sue if your child or other loved one is butchered by a Doctor?
To the Editor: 'Cap and Trade' bill will force jobs elsewhere brutus 2009-10-14 18:50:36 Oh now blame it on the people. We made them do it. Just like the woman whose husband beats her up. She made him do it. Not the companies who moved overseas or south of the border. Why do you people hate Americans?
To the Editor: Medical health care ignored brutus 2009-10-14 18:53:34 So useyourhead are you talking about birth control and abortion?
To the Editor: Focus on solutions, not shouting useyourhead 2009-10-14 19:01:14 I guess this article means nothing to you. "Focus on solutions, not shouting" Faced with the facts, you resorted to name calling. Without tort reform, how much would your bill have gone up? "Just as some posters on here, those who shouted and screamed have no ideas."
To the Editor: Medical health care ignored useyourhead 2009-10-14 19:11:55 Neither. I am talking about the people that have kids that really don't care about them or know how to. The parents that let their kids eat anything, stay up as late as they want, don't know where their kids are no matter the time of day or night. They wait around for their government check to buy smokes and beer. They abuse the system and complain their "rights" are violated.
To the Editor: 'Cap and Trade' bill will force jobs elsewhere useyourhead 2009-10-14 19:20:28 If the woman leaves her husband, he can't beat her. If we don't buy the products from overseas, they go out of business. The people didn't make them do it. Our government did.
To the Editor: 'Cap and Trade' bill will force jobs elsewhere brutus 2009-10-14 19:50:09 Paragraph #8 you blame me, Paragraph #10 you blame the Gov. Which company or corporation did the Gov force to go overseas?
To the Editor: Medical health care ignored brutus 2009-10-14 19:55:30 You are talking about your base.
To the Editor: Medical health care ignored useyourhead 2009-10-14 20:01:44 Typical brutus reply. No facts.
To the Editor: 'Cap and Trade' bill will force jobs elsewhere useyourhead 2009-10-14 20:06:48 I never said you or the people made them move overseas. You are complaining about the companies going overseas. I told you to look around to see all the products in your house that came from overseas. You complain about it, yet still buy their products. Do you see an issue with that ?
Perrysburg police seek witnesses to Saturday accident Gold Coins 2009-10-14 21:36:43 I hope the witnesses would show up!
To the Editor: All Americans should have a right to health security General Custar 2009-10-14 22:16:42 You can skew the facts to support arguments on both sides of this argument. Tha fact is that free health care in not a right. Nor is it anything the government should be involved in. Right now no one is turned down for health care regardless. With government health care the dicisions will be based more on cost, age, lifestyle. We have government health care now and it doesn't work and they won't fix it. (Medicaid, Medicare and the VA)This will make it all worse and you can say goodbye to mom and dad and the little babies that have a poor chance at a productive life. Its about choices and mine is to be rid of the government interference. We have never been a nanny state why do we want to be one now?
To the Editor: All Americans should have a right to health security General Custar 2009-10-14 22:30:10 One more thing, we have a president who is seemingly ashamed of this country, I need not defind her here because if you look you can see who she is, You can look all over the world and where ever she has been, life is better, There are very few exceptions to that. But as he goes around apoligizing for us he brings power to the miserable few who can see no shine in her eyes or love in her heart. Her pain is real from American blood being spilled accross the globe for a better life for everyone. The big stimulus package that makes him a hero is buying voice boxed for busses in Cleveland so the peolpe on the sidewalk know when the bus is going to turn: oh yeah amd inside the bus to remind the driver to look out for pedestrians at the bus stop. HMMM! Isn't that just part of the job? I for one miss Darwin. Lets not forget the poor people in Detroit who have no idea where Obama gets the money he is giving them outta his stash.
To the Editor: Focus on solutions, not shouting General Custar 2009-10-14 22:47:12 Actual health care is not the issue. The issue is affordable insurance. Things that can be done immediately to help with that is allowing the industry to compete accross state lines and letting them pool more of their resources to stop any one company from absorbing a crippling loss. This is already done with car and home insurance. This could be a solution to the pre-existing conditions many people have to deal with. You take small steps until you are sure which direction you are headed. Tossing the entire pail out is throwing the baby out with the bath water. The public option is a joke and will kill competition, no one who answers to the shareholders can even dare to try to compete with people that own the money printing presses that are running on overtime; people who obviously have never ran a busuness but because they have their hands in evry pocket in the country don't have to worry about their success or failures. If they give me the exact plan they are on, or even IMEDIATELY come onto the plan they want for us I might at least be more open minded, well except for the fact govrnment needs to stay the hell out of business.
To the Editor: Focus on solutions, not shouting brutus 2009-10-15 06:50:00 Health Insurance Profits Soar as Industry Mergers Create Near-Monopoly Bookmark and Share by Mike Hall, May 27, 2009 Profits at 10 of the country’s largest publicly traded health insurance companies rose 428 percent from 2000 to 2007, while consumers paid more for less coverage. One of the major reasons, according to a new study, is the growing lack of competition in the private health insurance industry that has led to near monopoly conditions in many markets. The report says such conditions warrant a Justice Department investigation and, says Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.), provide compelling evidence of the need for a public health insurance plan option as part of the health care reform initiative President Obama and Congress are developing. To the Editor: All Americans should have a right to health security Tired 2009-10-15 10:01:45 General Custar Sir or Ma'am you have no clue! The last 8 years brought this country to "her" knees. We were disrespected across the world and made the extremists only able to recruit more evil to do their deeds. I might not agree that Obama deserved the Nobel Peace Prize but it is a direct reflection to the fact that Obama is trying to reach out to the ones that want to destroy our nation and beliefs by using diplomacy instead of bombs! Don't preach to me about the past is the past! And that the Bush years are over! We will be dealing with those consquences for years to come! And to the rest of you that say GET OVER IT! Tell that to the thousands of families grieving over losing a soldier in Iraq. Protecting our freedom in Iraq? Hardly!

I am convinced that you are againts freedom and liberty. How about if you buy the products made another country, then you must move to that country? haha sounds pretty stupid doesn't it.
To the Editor: All Americans should have a right to health security useyourhead 2009-10-15 17:47:58 Americans have a "Right" to health care. This is what I have read. Our government should provide health care to all. This is where it gets fun. The First Amendment: Freedom of Religion. This right is to prevent the government from setting up a state religion or a federally preferred practice of religion. It further allows you to not be unnecessarily restricted in the practice of your faith. This Right nowhere sets up a government agency requiring all citizens to pick and choose from a menu of religions and then force the government pay for your practice of it. Second fundamental American right "The Right to Bear Arms." This was designed to stop the government from disarming the population. Now, let's see if the "government provided" concept part of "the right to healthcare" can be seen in the "Right to Bear Arms." If this were true, then this Right would mean that American citizens should expect the government to "provide" them with a weapon! Healthcare is not a right.

To the Editor: All Americans should have a right to health security brutus 2009-10-15 18:00:50 Profiting on the misfortunes of others is not a right either but it is done.
To the Editor: 'Cap and Trade' bill will force jobs elsewhere brutus 2009-10-15 18:08:11 If you wish to move your manufacturing to Communist and other 3rd world countries go live there. What is wrong with that? And again I ask you why do you hate America and Americans.
To the Editor: Weston farmer supports Issue 2 Marlene 2009-10-15 18:18:44 I hope you realize Issue 2 was bought and paid for by the factory farms, which have devistated not only the *real* family farms, but the roads leading to the factories, and have sucked the water table dry. Voting for Issue 2 only helps big business, NOT farmers like you who've been hoodwinked.
To the Editor: All Americans should have a right to health security useyourhead 2009-10-15 18:21:18 It's not againts the law either. I am not saying it is right, but it happens in all aspects of life, not just health care.
To the Editor: 'Cap and Trade' bill will force jobs elsewhere useyourhead 2009-10-15 18:30:25 Hate America and Americans?? What are you smoking brutus. I am fighting to protect the Constitution from being anialated by people like you. That logic of kicking people out of the country because they own a business in another country is ludacris. I will ask you again. If you wish to buy products from a communist and other 3rd world countries, should you be required to move there?
To the Editor: Pastors offer their views on gay ordination issue Marlene 2009-10-15 18:52:49 First, I'd like to remind the bigot who wrote this letter that who are *you* to decide whether or not a Lutheran gay man or lesbian who hears the call to preach should be denied because of some Bronze Age text? You can pick and choose scripture to quote 'til the cows come home! The fact remains that bigots used scripture to justify denying women and racial minorities their civil rights, and they lost in the court of law -- and so will bigots who use scripture to justify their hate, bigotry, and prejudice based on gender identity and sexual orientation! Second, I wonder if you preach against women in the ministry or in any area of authority, Rev. Merseth? Have you denounced the Christian sects who violate Paul's words and ordain women? Third, you should know that the bible is full of inaccurate and prejudicial translations! Your use of 1Cor 6:9 is proof of that.
To the Editor: All Americans should have a right to health security brutus 2009-10-15 19:25:28 Healthcare as a right is not against the law either.
To the Editor: 'Cap and Trade' bill will force jobs elsewhere brutus 2009-10-15 19:30:58 Which constitution or should I say whose constitution China's? Wow you really hate middle class America don't you. Glad you are writing this stuff so everyone can see your true allegiance.
To the Editor: Weston farmer supports Issue 2 farmer 4 life 2009-10-15 23:30:53 Marlene, I hope you realize the factory farms will not be stopped by voting no on issue two. All farmers small or large scale will suffer if we allow peta/epa win the this battle. Are you ready to only find pork, beef, and chicken made from mexico and canada in your store? They don't obey any requlations that USA has now. How much do you want to pay for a dozen of eggs? six dollars? No just eat cereal for breakfast thats only made by a small company Kellogs... think about it...
To the Editor: Weston farmer supports Issue 2 Marlene 2009-10-16 05:14:19 First, you've been lied to by the factory farm backers! Have you seen the conditions the animals suffer in those places? They are not only inhumane, but unhealthy for the animals as well! Would you like to live next to a CAFO that has a holding pond, and are you ready to py the price when one of those disaster areas lets go? The tactics of the Issue 2 backers is just plain scapegoating and fearmongering. I respectfully suggest you read what the League of Women Voters suggest and vote NO on 2! The LWV has a longstanding history of non-partisanship and look on both sides before making a decision on an issue.
Owens CC President plans to retire Washington DC Compounding Pharmacy 2009-10-16 05:20:25 That was a great job!
To the Editor: Weston farmer supports Issue 2 brutus 2009-10-16 06:39:36 These supporters of issue 2 know people around here scare easily. That is why they use fear and lies to promote this issue. Don't fall for it people. This is just big business wanting to eliminate the small farms.

To the Editor: 'Cap and Trade' bill will force jobs elsewhere useyourhead 2009-10-16 06:51:13 Speaking from emotion again. No facts. No I don't hate the middle class. I guess kicking people out of the country is your idea of being a true American.
To the Editor: All Americans should have a right to health security useyourhead 2009-10-16 06:55:58 With that logic, everything that you want would be classified as a right. It's not againts the law to have a job, let's make that a right, it's not againts the law to own a car, let's make that a right. Since it is now a right to have a job and own a car, I should expect our government to provide me with them.
To the Editor: All Americans should have a right to health security brutus 2009-10-16 09:28:54 Once again useyourhead you are delusional. Nobody has said Healthcare would be free. Not any of the bills currently being proposed. You must get your info the same place as Glenn Beck, the University of IDK (I Don't Know). HAHAHAHA. You are hilarious.
To the Editor: 'Cap and Trade' bill will force jobs elsewhere brutus 2009-10-16 09:32:39 Only people who hate our country so much that they want to destroy it for their own personal gain. You would agree with that don't you?
To the Editor: Pastors offer their views on gay ordination issue Tim 2009-10-16 10:32:55 Thank you for stating this in print. Too many Pastor's are afraid to offend people with the mention of sins these days. May the Lord bless you and your work.
