PEMBERVILLE - President Gwen Schroeder-Zulch opened the March 19 unit meeting.  The charter was draped in memory of Cynthia Witte.  
The auxuiliary is donating $100 to Riley Korns who wrote asking for donations to help her fund her travels abroad this summer.
Cards are being sent this month to auxiliary and legion members on the get-well list.  Anyone wishing to receive the legion newsletter by mail is to call the legion hall to request it, or they can receive the newsletter by email by sending their email address to  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Pies are needed for the legion fish fries, tonight and April 21. Anyone wishing to donate a pie or two, bring them to the hall by 2 p.m. Fish fry serving hours are 4:30 - 7 p.m.

United Women Educators
Fifteen members of United Women Educators and two guests met on March 13 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church.
The program was a history of dolls from the early 1800's to the present, including homemade dolls, German and French made fashion and baby dolls, and story book dolls. Several members brought dolls which had been special to them as children to the meeting and shared their stories.
December's silent auction provided over $550 for the scholarship and mini grant fund. In addition, over $270 and 55 health and toiletry items were donated by members for the Cocoon Shelter.
A slate of officers was presented and will be voted on in April, along with a budget proposal.
A book will be donated to the Wood County District Public Library in memory of Helen Roe, a longtime Delta Kappa Gamma and UWE member.
UWE will meet at 6:30 p.m. on April 10 at the Pemberville Library. Susan Biddle will present a program on gardening entitled "What I've Learned from Playing in the Dirt."

TONTOGANY - All were present for the March 17 meeting of Laureate Gamma Sigma chapter at the home of Donna Lambert. Members met for lunch at The China prior to the meeting.
President Judy Robinson opened with a reading by Mark Twain pertaining to St. Patrick's Day.
Donna Lambert reported receiving a letter of congratulations from the international sorority office in Kansas City upon her 50 years of membership and she is eligible for the Golden Circle award.
Mother's Day was discussed and responsibilities given to the program and social committees.
The chapter will again bring items for the Otsego Food Pantry to the last meeting in May.
Election of officers was held. Elected are: President, Lambert; vice president, Barbara Heiman; secretary, Betty Buehrer; treasurer, Janice Kaiser; Extension office, Joyce Asmus.

Friendly Town and Country held their 66th anniversary meeting in the Stone Hall at Otsego Park on March 13 at 1:30 p.m.
Despite the inclement weather, seven members attended, including the longest-running member, Dorothy Cromley, 34 years.
Others who have been in the club for many years are Marvella Enright, 21 years; and Gloria Green, 16 years.  The current president of the club is Carole Rives.
Those present were: Cromley, Rives, Karen Dauer, Danilda Lee, Cathy Nelson, Marge Richendollar and Patsy Vogelsong.    
Past presidents of the club include: Eva Browne, Emma Dauer, Margaret Lang, Lee, Mary LeGalley, Joan Potter, Matilda Shonk, Molly Watson, and Betty Wenig.

Bradner Legion Unit 338
BRADNER - President Deb Stiger opened the March 5 meeting of Albert Bowe American Legion Auxiliary, with five members present.
The unit has four Poppy Girls this year:  Abagaile Hagemann, Parris Hagemann, Hailey Beaupre and Erica Krawetzke.  'The Poppy Shop Open House will be held April 6 at Sandusky, with the program starting at 10:30 a.m.
Thank you cards were read from Buckeye Girls State applicants.
There was a discussion about having two other dinners to help fund the USO Show in July. The first one will be April 13 from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. The menu will be ham, scalloped potatoes, green beans and cake. Cost will be $7.  The second dinner will be held May 18.
April 6 will be the monthly Baked Steak Dinner.
