President Teri Hansen welcomed 25 members and guests to Art-a-Site in downtown Bowling Green for the Oct. 22 UWE meeting. She thanked Lois Zeh for arranging the venue.
Mini grant forms have been distributed to school districts. Sharon Nigh said two grant applications have already been received.
The UWE scrapbooks completed by Zeh are in the Jerome Library archives at BGSU.
Marianne Hoare collected monetary donations, gift cards and stamps for the Cocoon Shelter.
Zeh introduced Becky Laabs, artist and former art teacher at Bowling Green High School. Laabs told how she developed Art-a-Site, beginning in 2008 by representing the work of 12 area artists. The gallery now represents 125 artists, in a variety of media and wide range of price points. Art education classes are offered for people of all ages. Art-a-Site, at 116 S. Main, is on Facebook.
Laabs guided members in experimenting with water color techniques to each produce a matted painting of fall leaves.
The UWE dinner meeting is Dec. 3 at the BG Country Club. Abby Paskvan will present a vocal entertainment. A silent auction will be held to help fund next year's mini grants for area teachers.

Rita Euler made a motion that PPP give $100 to a Boy Scout troop in the area to purchase popcorn for distribution to the troops in Afghanistan. The group also will send $100 to the Ohio ALA for Nurses Scholarships. All agreed.
It was noted that although this year's attendance was low, Parley members wished to continue to have their annual dinner meeting on the third Tuesday of October. The 2014 date will be Oct. 21. It should be Freedom-Pemberville Unit's turn to host the dinner. Darline Weaver will contact auxiliary leaders Betty Briggs and Rita Euler to see if they will do so.
Weaver will send the invitation to each unit. Units, in turn, should contact their past presidents, secure the reservations for the dinner get Weaver the final RSVP count.
It was voted to retain the current officers: President, Langley, and secretary, Darline Weaver, both Unit 409; treasurer, Heilman, and chaplain, Davis, both Unit 240.
