GRAND RAPIDS - President Tracy Bostelman led an informal meeting of the auxiliary on May 6, with nine members present.
Karen Dress reported that the Brecksville Birthday Party served 88 veterans with 13 of them having birthdays. There were 42 auxiliary, six Legionnaires and one Son on the bus. The unit's total cost of the party was $700.
For those members who are VIM's, the name has been changed to PUFL (Paid Up For Life).
Honor Flight starts up again June 1
The unit donated $50 to Paul Sill for his participation in the Cancer Relay for Life.
District summer convention will be June 5 at Diehn Post with registration starting at 8:30 a.m.. Department convention will be June 25-27 at Brown Plaza, Toledo.
Mae Schlotz reported that only four men make all the poppies for Poppy Day. As of April 1, they had made 302,300 poppies. The Memorial church services will be May 30 at the Neapolis Church at 9:30 a.m.
Memorial Day services at the cemeteries will start at Beaver Creek at 9; Mt. Pleasant 9:45, parade at 10:30; program at the park, 10:45; and St. Patrick's Cemetery, 11:30. It will be followed by a potluck lunch at the legion at 12:30, which the public is welcome to attend.
Bills paid: $100 hall cleaning, $52 for ALA Department dues, $112 for poppy letters and postage, $40 for Brecksville bus trip.
There is a fish fry tonight from 5 until 7 p.m.
The next meeting will be June 3, with potluck at 6:30 p.m.
