Paul C. Ladd VFW Auxiliary 1148The auxiliary held their regular meeting at 7 p.m. Oct. 21 at 719
S. Main, Bowling Green.All yearly donations have been met. The auxiliary has held a few bake sales at fish
fries and a combined garage, bake and crafts sale Oct. 28 to raise money. The last sales proceeds will be
divided with the post.The Nov. 18 auxiliary meeting will be inspection by District 1. There will be a
potluck at 6 p.m. and meeting at 7. Members are invited to attend.Also slated is a Veterans Day dinner this
Saturday, at 6:30 p.m. at the post home, for both post and auxiliary members.Membership dues are to be in to
the auxiliary by Dec. 15 so as to ensure that the member in question will not be in default on Jan. 1.Alva
N. Sidle Legion Unit 232GRAND RAPIDS – The four 2013 delegates to Buckeye Girls State gave their reports
prior to the Nov. 7 auxiliary meeting. They were very impressed with the knowledge they attained at BGS.Judy
Thomas opened the regular meeting with eight members present. She reported the unit has 136 paid members,
with a goal of 215.There were 58 "cookie and soup" quarts brought in for the Food Bank.Members
discussed the new plan of action that auxiliary units are doing instead of green reports. Programs are now
grouped by pods. There are three mission-related pods: veteran/military support, family support and youth
development. The other two are membership pod and an administrative pod. Programs within each pod are alike
in some way so as to make working them easier, especially for units with fewer members.JoAnna Studer’s
membership application and transfers for Connie Dunn from Unit 340 and Jeannie Jeffers from Unit 332 were
approved.The unit signed Christmas cards to be sent to the veterans serving our country.Among payments made
were $150 each to Jim Garber for Otsego Elementary school supplies, to ALA Department of Ohio for Toledo VA
women, and to Sandusky OVH women; $77 to Gloria Kutchenriter for Bloodmobile; $306 to ALA Department for
poppies; and $50 to Grand Rapids Library.Unit members will bring socks, gloves and underwear for the
children at the elementary school instead of a gift exchange at the next meeting, slated for Dec. 5 at 7
p.m.The post fish fry is tonight from 5 to 7. Cost is $10 per person.There will be a dance to benefit Honor
Flight on Saturday. Doors open at 7 and the dance begins at 8.
