Pemberville Legion AuxiliaryPEMBERVILLE – President Gwen Schroeder led the Oct. 2 meeting.The
district fall convention was held Oct. 5 and Shelly Riggs was nominated to be national auxiliary
chaplain.Membership dues are due and should be sent to the legion hall in care of Carolyn Borcherding. New
membership forms are available in the hall office.The Auxiliary Autumn Fest Craft Show will be Saturday from
10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Unit members’ help is needed Friday to make bean soup and chili. Also, pies are needed and
may be brought in on Friday or Saturday morning.Denise Conrad and Gwen Schroeder-Zulch attended the
Department School of Instruction in September and Zulch the district conference in Holland.Borcherding
reported that 49 units of blood were donated. All members who brought cookies or helped in some way are
thanked.On Oct. 18 the auxiliary marching unit – Conrad, Jan Blausey, Mary Busdeker, Sally Haas and Brenda
Schnitker – along with the American Legion Color Guard posted the American, legion and auxiliary colors at
the last home football game at Eastwood Freedom Field.Kay Brueggemeier provided dessert.The next unit
meeting will be Nov. 6 at 7 p.m.Salon No. 741Wood County Salon No. 741 of the 8/40 held their October supper
meeting at Van Wert. Alice Pettijohn was host and Ramona Bostick was co-hostess.The group will be handing
out cookie dough fundraiser sheets this fall for delivery in December. The Nurses Scholarship raffle will be
sent to each member to help sell tickets. The proceeds for these fundraisers help the Nurses Scholarship and
Youth and Children projects.Salon 741 is looking for a Special Cystic Fibrosis Child and family to sponsor.
The 8/40 mission is to aid children with all respiratory diseases.The Oct. 25-26 School of Instructions for
Department 8/40 will be held in Columbus.The next salon meeting is Nov. 7 at Shirley Davis’ home in Luckey,
Darlene Hanneman co-hosting.
