TONTOGANY - The chapter's first meeting of the new year was held Sept. 16 at the home of Jackie Shank in Waterville, with eight members present.
President Judy Robinson presided. Communications included a letter from the Cocoon Shelter read by Janice Kaiser, announcing an Oct. 10 dinner at Nazareth Hall. Donna Lambert read a thank you from the Otsego Food Pantry.
The pie auction at the Tontogany Festival in August was well supported. It was voted to discontinue the cupcake decorating contest for children due to the lack of entries - only three this year. The pie baking contest and auction will continue in 2014.
The chapter will purchase detergent and dryer sheets for the pantry.
Shank presented a program of humorous readings plus a quiz on how old you are.
Apple cake with topping was served following the program.
Members will bring items for the food pantry to the next meeting, slated for Oct. 7 at Betty Buehrer's home. Needed are cake mixes, sloppy joe mix, peanut butter, pancake mix, toothpaste and brushes, boxed potatoes, ramen noodles and deodorant.
