United Women Educators
Fourteen UWE member met at Eastwood High School for the April meeting.  Betsy Hood, director of E Learning at Eastwood, presented the program. Utilizing a power point presentation, she explained what "E Learning" is and how Eastwood is utilizing it in the classroom. She gave specific examples that teachers at various grade levels were using to help their students learn. This hybrid learning, when done with purpose and relevance, can be very effective in educating students. A question and answer session followed.
Mary Ellen Pratt, chairperson for the finance/audit committee, presented the proposed budget, which members approved.
President Teri Hansen asked for input about the frequency of the UWE survey. Members' opinions should be shared with the executive board. She also reminded members to return this year's survey by the May meeting. Members are to mention on the survey what days of the week/month are typically not good for them because of other regular commitments they have.
The next UWE meeting is May 18 at 11 a.m. at St. Mark's Lutheran Church. Brunch will be provided by the executive board. The program will be on Fort Meigs and the War of 1812.  Special recognition was given to member Jill Bortel, who was recently honored for serving as a sorority advisor at BGSU for nearly 40 years. Sue Hess and the rest of the social committee were thanked for the refreshments and door prizes.
