Lybarger-Grimm Legion Unit 441
TONTOGANY - President Patti Wires opened the Feb. 20 meeting with seven members present and prayer given by Rita Euler.
Before the meeting, a potluck followed by Buckeye Girls State orientation and interviews was conducted. Seven candidates were interviewed.
The 2013 membership dues are being accepted. Send dues to Terri Strow. Her phone: (419) 353-9666.
Members voted to purchase more silverware. The unit made a contribution to the Veteran Memorial Association.
Banquet dates are April 27, May 4 and May 25 To help, call Wires.
The women voted to send three girls instead of two again this year to Buckeye Girls State. The auxiliary will sponsor two girls and the Sons of the American Legion will sponsor one. Candidates have been chosen and notified.
The March 6 meeting was an informal gathering at which 10 boxes of snacks and hygiene items were put together to be sent to three different people serving overseas. Wires, Marcia Wesolowski, Myra Creel and Becky Long helped to assemble them.
The next unit meeting is April 3 at 7 p.m.
TOLEDO — The Gathering of Quilters Guild will hold their monthly meeting Thursday at 7 p.m. at Epiphany Lutheran Church hall, 915 N. Reynolds Road, between Nebraska Avenue and Door Street.
Sue Nickels will present the program on machine applique. The fat quarter theme is pastels.
Attendance is $10 for non-members. Refreshments are served.
The guild is also making plans for their yearly retreat at Michindoh Conference Center in Hillsdale, Mich. For details call (419) 708-1680.
