Alva Sidle Legion Auxiliary
GRAND RAPIDS - President Tracy Bostelman opened the Feb. 7 auxiliary meeting with eight members present.
Karen Dress and Barbara Thomas made 12 fleece blankets for the veterans which will be taken to Vi Grzybowski.
Membership applications for Lori Carlson and Kathy Habegger were read and accepted.
Letters were sent to the Buckeye Girls State candidates. The interviews will be at the March 7 meeting.
The unit bought the Birthday Ball tickets.
Thank you cards were read from Ellouise Myers and Virginia Walerius. Sympathy cards were sent to Lillian and Sue Welch and family for the loss of their son and brother. Member Virginia Turner's house was partially destroyed by fire.
Among payments made were $96 to Dress for items for veterans and veterans' wives at the Grand Rapids Care Center, $200 for Otsego Food Baskets, $200 to Mary Jo Myers for items to send to the troops, $50 for the ALA Department of Ohio Government Test trip; $30 each to VA Hospitals in Dayton, Cincinnati, Cleveland and Chillicothe; and $445 in dues to the ALA Department.
There will be a fish fry Friday, Feb. 15 from 5 to 7 p.m. Cost is $9.
