CINCINNATI — Xavier dominated in overtime on
the way to an 85-73 victory over the Bowling Green State University men’s basketball team Saturday.The
Musketeers outscored the Falcons, 17-5 in the extra session.Xavier’s Myles Davis was the difference in
overtime, scoring eight points.Davis’ 3-pointer from the right corner broke a 69-69 tie with 3:59 left in
overtime. He made another 3-pointer with 1:29 left to push Xavier up 79-73.“My teammates found me,” said
Davis. “I was in the right spot in the right time. I got my feet set and shot my jump shot. They have
confidence in me.”With 1:19 left in regulation, Richaun Holmes gave the Falcons a 67-66 lead with a
layup.Holmes then blocked Isaiah Philmore’s jumper, and teammate Anthony Henderson grabbed the
rebound.Henderson split a pair of free throws with 15 seconds left to give BG a 68-66 lead.Semaj Christon
then tied the game with two free throws with 5.5 seconds left. He finished with 22 points.BG’s Jehvon Clarke
missed a 3-pointer from the top of key just before regulation ended.‘‘It’s a tough loss,’’ BG head coach
Louis Orr said. ‘‘I’m pleased with our guys’ effort, and their fight. … They gave a winning effort. … We
did a lot of good things.’’Holmes scored a career-high 26 points, hauled in nine rebounds and registered
five blocks to lead the Falcons.‘‘He had the best game of his career. He’s a big talent, and he’s starting
to step into those shoes,’’ Orr said. ‘‘He made big baskets. That was a grown-up game for him.”Henderson and
Clarke each finished with 13 points. Clarke also had five rebounds, and four assists.The Falcons were only
5-of-20 on 3-pointers (25 percent), and 18-of-31 from the free-throw line (58.1 percent).NOTES: BG is 3-5
and Xavier is 6-3 … The game saw 10 lead changes and nine ties over the 40 minutes of regulation …
Henderson had to have stitches over his eye after taking an inadvertent elbow to the head. Henderson did
return to play … BG’s Craig Sealey sprained his ankle during the game and played only 15 minutes … The
