While it was reiterated again Wednesday that Matt Johnson is the starting quarterback for the
Bowling Green Falcons, there are questions in the BG camp about who will be quarterbacking Indiana on
Saturday.BG plays at Indiana with kickoff at noon in Memorial Stadium. The game is being televised by
ESPNU.At quarterback, Tre Roberson and Nate Sudfeld are both listed at the top of the depth chart for the
Hoosiers, and Cameron Coffman is third. All three have seen playing time this season through IU’s first two
games.Roberson, a 6-foot, 200 pound, redshirt sophomore, is more of a runner.Sudfeld, a 6-5, 230, sophomore,
is more of a passer.Coffman, 6-2, 205, junior, is a balance between the two.Roberson saw limited action in
Indiana’s 41-35 loss to Navy last Saturday.Sudfeld was 31-of-42 for 363 yards and four touchdowns with one
interception against the Midshipmen. The 363 passing yards are the 10th-most in school history.‘‘It doesn’t
help them to let us know who the quarterback is going to be,’’ BG head coach Dave Clawson said. ‘‘I’m sure
they want to play both of those guys.‘‘Hopefully, they switch them the whole game, because that means we’re
stopping them,’’ he continued. ‘‘If they stay with one, it’s probably because they are having
success.’’Clawson said there could be different plans defensively for his team depending on which
quarterback is in the game.‘‘You have to be prepared for both,’’ Clawson said. ‘‘Our job is to make sure
that neither one gets the hot hand.’’IU head coach Kevin Wilson, plans to keep using two
quarterbacks.‘‘We’re going to try to keep doing what we’re doing. I don’t know if one of those guys is
independently dynamic,’’ Wilson said. ‘‘Collectively, we could be better. We’ll just see how the week
goes.‘‘Somebody is going out there … Tre’s passing efficiency is higher than Sudfeld’s,’’ Wilson added.
‘‘The offense has to play better, too. We need to block better, too. We had some dropped passes. We had four
holding penalties.‘‘We’ve got to keep pushing to get better. We’re young. We haven’t figured it out. Those
guys are good players, and we’re just going to keep doing our process, the way we work.’’BGSU TIES:
Indiana’s Cody Latimer, a wide receiver, is the son of former BGSU player Colby Latimer.Colby Latimer

and close friends of Colby Latimer, Kyle Kramer and Ron Todd both played integral roles in Cody’s life, as
mentors and friends.Cody Latimer was a second-team All-Big Ten selection by the media in 2012. He led the
Hoosiers with 805 receiving yards and finished second on the team with 51 receptions. He scored six
touchdowns. This season Cody Latimer has five receptions for 73 yards. For his career, he has 68 receptions
for 1,019 yards with eight touchdowns.CHANGE: BG freshman running back Fred Coppet has changed his number
from 28 to 12.Diontre Delk, a defensive back, and Patrick Brown, a backup quarterback, are also listed with
the No. 12 for the Falcons.2-FOR-1: Saturday’s contest is the first of a three-game series between BG and IU
with the Falcons playing twice on the road and the Hoosiers playing once at Perry Stadium.BG hosts Indiana
on Sept. 13, 2014, and the third game of the deal is in 2017 at IU.Clawson said when talking with fans, they
want to see Big Ten teams come to Perry Stadium.‘‘We hope that people want to buy season-ticket packages,
and fill the stands. These are games our students want to see,’’ Clawson said. ‘‘If we have to do this twice
to get a packed house at the Doyt, then we’ll do it.’’
