Bowling Green defensive lineman Chris Jones received an invitation Friday to participate in the NFL combine set to begin on Feb. 23 in Indianapolis. The combine draws executives, coaches, player personnel staff and medical personnel from all 32 NFL teams to evaluate the nation’s top college football players eligible for the upcoming NFL Draft. The four-day event can be followed live at nfl.com and on the NFL Network. Jones had one of the finest seasons by a defensive player in school history, earning Mid-American Conference defensive player of the year honors after finishing the season with 42 tackles, 12.5 sacks and 19 tackles for loss. Jones was a first-team All-American by the Football Writers Association of America and first-team All-MAC Jones played in 50 games during his career, starting 44 consecutive contests, helping the Falcons to advance to bowl games in 2009 and 2012. The Brownsburg, Ind., native recorded 157 tackles, 28 sacks, 46 tackles for loss, fix forced fumbles and five fumble recoveries. |
