Falcons’ Hammond honored by CCHA

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. — Bowling Green’s Andrew Hammond is the Central Collegiate Hockey
Association goalie of the week, the league announced Wednesday.The senior had 38 saves in BG’s 3-0 win
Saturday over 17th-ranked Niagara.Hammond has a 2.93 goals-against average and a .911 save percentage in
13 games this season, including a .938 save percentage in his last five games.In other CCHA news,
Michigan will be without its leading scorer for Tuesday’s home game against BG.Senior forward A.J.
Treais was suspended one game by the CCHA, the league said Wednesday.The suspension was the result of
Treais receiving major and game-misconduct penalties for contact to the head during Saturday’s game
against Michigan State.The penalties were received at 17:28 of the third period of Michigan’s 5-2
win.Treais is tied for third in the CCHA in scoring with 19 points. He has 10 goals and nine assists in
18 games.Treais was one of two players suspended by the league Wednesday.The other was Western Michigan
sophomore defenseman Matt Stewart, who was suspended for receiving checking from behind and
game-disqualification penalties against Michigan Tech Saturday.Stewart will miss this weekend’s series
against Bemidji State. He’ll sit out one game for the automatic one-game NCAA suspension for receiving a
game-disqualification penalty and one game for the CCHA’s supplemental discipline.
