Bowling Green and the Mid-American Conference office have announced the 2012 football schedule. The Falcons go to Toledo on Sept. 15, host Rhode Island for Homecoming on Sept. 29, and play Buffalo at Columbus Crew Stadium on Nov. 23. BG will play all six teams in the MAC East along Toledo and Eastern Michigan from the West. Bowling Green opens the season on Sept. 1 versus Florida in the first meeting between the two schools. The Falcons open the home schedule on Sept. 8 versus Idaho. Other non-conference games are Sept. 22 at Virginia Tech and the game with Rhode Island. In addition to the Toledo game, other road conference games are Akron (Oct. 6), UMass (Oct. 20) and Ohio (Nov. 7). The Ohio contest is slated for 8 p.m., live on ESPN2. The home MAC schedule is Miami (Oct. 13), Eastern Michigan (Oct. 27), Kent State (Nov. 17) and Buffalo (Nov. 23). The season-ending game against Buffalo will move from Doyt Perry Stadium to Columbus Crew Stadium. The game will mark BGSU’s first neutral site regular season contest since 2006 against Wisconsin in Cleveland Browns Stadium.
“With students away from campus for Thanksgiving Break, the Buffalo game became an opportunity for us to take BGSU on the road to one of our most populated alumni areas,” said BG athletics director Greg Christopher. “We view this as more than a football game and truly a university-wide effort and event. The Crew are excited about the partnership and we look forward to the unique event.” All five games inside Doyt Perry Stadium will take place on a Saturday. Kickoff times will be announced at a later date.
