Bowling Green’s hockey team has added two recruits for next season. The two are forwards Mark Cooper of St. Michael’s Buzzers in the Ontario Junior Hockey League and Ben Murphy of the Carleton Place (Ontario) Canadians in the Central Canada (Junior) Hockey League. Cooper has 21 goals and 30 assists in 40 games this season after totaling 23 goals and 29 assists in 40 games with the Buzzers last season. He has eight power-play goals, five short-handed goals and nine game-winning goals in his two seasons. Cooper is 6-foot-2, 180 pounds and turns 20 in May. He is from Scarborough, Ontario. Murphy has 24 goals and 17 assists in 28 games, including 11 power-play goals and four game-winning goals. Murphy, who is 6-0, 200, will 21 in September. He is from Duxbury, Mass. The Falcons’ recruiting class for next season consists of three forwards and one defensemen, but additional players still could be added. In addition, forward Dajon Mingo and defenseman Derek Hills will become eligible next season after sitting out this season for academic reasons. They’re attending classes at BG this year. — GORDON |
