Bowling Green will have plenty of travel in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association next season.
The Falcons will make three trips to the Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, one trip each to Alabama and Minnesota, and one trip to Alaska.
The WCHA portion of the Falcons’ schedule for next season was announced Saturday.
BG joins the WCHA next season because the CCHA becomes defunct after this season when all of college hockey’s realignment takes affect.
The Falcons will play five opponents — including scheduling partner Alabama-Huntsville — four times each and four opponents twice each to make up the 28-game league schedule.
Scheduling partners play each other four times each season, two home and two away.
In addition to UAH, the Falcons will play four games each against Alaska-Anchorage, Lake Superior, Michigan Tech and Minnesota State (Mankato).
The remainder of BG’s WCHA schedule consists of two-game home series against Bemidji State and Alaska (Fairbanks), and two-game away series against Ferris State and Northern Michigan.
The other scheduling pairs are Ferris-Lake Superior, NMU-Tech, Bemidji-Minnesota State and the two Alaska schools.
The Falcons’ 36-game schedule also has eight non-league games.
NCAA rules allow for only 34 games, but the Falcons allowed the two extra games since they are traveling to Alaska-Anchorage. Games outside the continental U.S. don’t count against the 34-game maximum.
The Falcons will host Colgate and visit Union to complete home-and-home contracts.
BG also has a home-and-home series against Ohio State, and will play in the Three Rivers Classic in Pittsburgh at the Consol Energy Center.
Also competing in the tournament at Robert Morris, Penn State and Boston College.
