TOLEDO - After breaking box office records and selling out in 2010, "Wicked" is back for a three-week engagement starting next week at the Stranahan Theater.
Tickets start at $38 and can be purchased at the Stranahan Theater box office at 4645 Heatherdowns Blvd. and online at theaterleague.com and stranahantheater.org or by calling (419) 381-8851. Tickets are available to groups of 15 or more by calling (866) 31-GROUP (47687).
The Toledo engagement of "Wicked" will feature Jennifer DiNoia as Elphaba and Hayley Podschun as Glinda with Kathy Fitzgerald as Madame Morrible and Walker Jones as The Wizard.
"Wicked" runs at the Stranahan Theater from Aug. 14-Sept. 1.
"Wicked," with music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz ("Godspell," "Pippin," "Disney's Enchanted," Academy Award winner for "Pocahontas" and "The Prince of Egypt") and book by Winnie Holzman ("My So Called Life," "Once And Again" and "thirtysomething"), is based on the best-selling 1995 novel by Gregory Maguire.
"Wicked", winner of 35 major awards, including a Grammy Award and three Tony Awards, is the untold story of the witches of Oz.
Long before Dorothy drops in, two other girls meet in the land of Oz. One - born with emerald green skin - is smart, fiery and misunderstood. The other is beautiful, ambitious and very popular. "Wicked" tells the story of their remarkable odyssey, how these two unlikely friends grow to become the "Wicked" Witch of the West and Glinda the Good.
