As part of its Live Wire Series which showcases the northwest Ohio music scene, WBGU-FM will present a night of locally-inspired, independent music Thursday at 9 p.m.  at the Cla-Zel.
Students of the Telecommunications Department will lend their digital expertise in the production and recording of the event to be broadcast on WBGU-TV.
A radio compliment to the performance also airs on WBGU-FM 88.1 during the regularly scheduled Live Wire program on Wednesday evenings.
Live Wire will feature the following artists on Thursday:
• GOLD is  a three piece rock band based in Toledo. With influences ranging from Prince to The Beatles to Rage Against the Machine, they have been described as "…a delightfully strange hybrid of pop and soul with elements of gospel, garage rock and even disco."
Members Tom Martin, Zach Ruetz, and Jacob Czerniejewski have been involved in the local music scene for over five years. Their debut self-titled EP has created quite a buzz around the Toledo area.
• Matt Truman Ego Trip sends you back in time, to the rock n' roll era of the Sixties.
• City of Kings was formed in Marion by the instrumentalists in the band while they were in high school. In May of 2011, City of Kings moved to Dayton, where they added the missing piece to their band: vocalist Jake Rose. Their gritty sound has often been compared to The Black Keys and similar acts.
• Kitty Glitter is a four-piece rock band formed in 2010 out of Bowling Green as a side project by members of The Wobblies & Analog Revolution. They include elements of pop, rock, and punk with catchy songs and multi vocals.
The event is free and open to the public. However there is a $2 suggested donation to support the continued work of the Live Wire series.
