The annual Aspiring Filmmakers Showcase will be presented by the UT Film & Video Society and the University of Toledo Department of Theatre & Film this month at two venues: the Maumee Indoor Theater at 7:30 p.m. on March 21, and the Center for Performing Arts Center Theatre at 7:30 p.m. on March 23. The screenings of the best in student films are the culmination of a juried process. The majority of submissions are from students in the Theatre and Film Department, but the competition is open to any currently enrolled UT student. "The filmmaker must be a currently enrolled student. Eligible films are created during production film classes and can range from 30 minutes to 3 minutes, in digital and film," said Amanda Hurst, senior Film student and President of the Film & Video Society. The public screenings are an opportunity for students to share their films with a broader audience. "We do this to see our work, and for our friends and family to see our work. It's a chance to get ourselves out there," said Hurst. Admittance to the Film/Video showcase costs $5 for the general public and $3 for students and senior citizens. T he Maumee Indoor Theater is located at 601 Conant St. The Center for Performing Arts is located on UT's Main Campus at Towerview West and West Rocket Drive. |
