PEMBERVILLE – Bowling Green High senior Larissa Leck’s entry into the annual For Love of Art Show at the
Pemberville Opera House was dressed for success.
Leck’s "Don’t Leaf Me Behind," a dress made of newsprint was awarded Best of Show honors at the
show.
The First Place award went to previous winner Isaac Smith for "Turned," a charcoal and white
chalk drawing on toned paper. Isaac is a BGHS student now a junior at Kendall College of Art &
Design in Michigan..
Other winners selected by noted local artist Emanuel Enriquez included second place to BGHS sophomore
Gillian Quaintance for her ceramic piece "African Chomper" and third place for BGHS senior
Nicole Castor’s found-objects sculpture "Rainforest Revival."
Honorable Mention Awards went to: Eastwood junior Paige Himburg’s mixed media dress "Dancing in the
Dark"; Lakota senior Jack Raymond’s alabaster sculpture "Contemplation"; and BGHS
students, Thayer Daniel’s rolled paper construction "Benjamins," Brock Power’s collage
"Creative Bowl Artwork," Kirstyn Harris’ fabric and paint transfer dress "Flight from
Home" and Emma Avery’s brass and copper bracelet "Crooked Teeth."
The show continues this coming Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Pemberville Opera House. Balloting
continues for the People’s Choice Award.
