TOLEDO - "Picturing Thailand," an exhibition of photographs by Elliot Charney at LeSo Gallery, 1527 Starr Ave, will open with a reception Friday from 7 to 9 p.m.
A closing artist's talk and reception will be held Feb. 21 from 7 to 9 p.m.
Charney, recipient of the 2013 Toledo Museum of Art's Palmer Scholarship, concentrated two months of photographic exploration in Thailand capturing images of a foreign people, land, and culture. Approaching the unfamiliar ways of another culture from the perspective of an unknowing traveler, Charney sought to bring to light the beauty of what Thai people experience as typical and mundane. Opening Reception: Friday, February 7, 2014 from 7- 9pm
Gallery hours are Saturdays and Sundays noon to 4 p.m.
