TOLEDO -Â Jazz trombonist Delfeayo Marsalis, a member of one of the music industry's most notable families, will visit the Toledo Museum of Art on Thursday for two free events.
At 2 p.m., Marsalis will entertain families with a reading of his newly released children's picture book, "No Cell Phone Day," which tells what happens when Marsalis' daughter challenges him to a tech-free afternoon in their New Orleans hometown.
At 7 p.m., Marsalis will talk about what inspires him and how those inspirations impact his work in a free presentation called "Be Creative, It's Cool Like Jazz."
On Wednesday Marsalis will be the featured performer at Party Like It's Mardi Gras at 7:30 p.m. at Best Western Premier Grand Plaza Hotel, 444 North Summit St.
The event sponsored by the Art Tatum Jazz Society includes music by Marsalis and friends and a tasting buffet of New Orleans specialties.
Tickets are $65 for concert and buffet and $85 including an after party with the musicians. Jazz society members get a $10 discount.
