TOLEDO - International improvisors Japanese percussionist Tatsuya Nakatani and Italian soprano saxophonist Michel Doneda will perform Wednesday at 9 p.m. at the Robinwood Concert House, 2564 Robinwood Ave.
Admission is $10.
A self-taught musician Doneda founded with musicians, dancers, actors, IREA (Institute of exchanges between arts of improvisation). He has played with a global cast of collaborators including John Zorn and Elvin Jones.
A native of Osaka, Japan, Nakatani's approach to music is visceral, intuitively primitive, and eludes categorization. He creates sound using drums, bowed gongs, cymbals, singing bowls, metal objects and bells struck with various sticks, kitchen tools and homemade bows.
