Heard exhibits new art

PERRYSBURG – An exhibit of new work by multimedia artist Sandra Heard opens with a reception tonight from
6 to 9 at River House Arts, 115 W. Front St.
Rust-Belt-Muse, continuing through June 27, includes 17 new sculptural works. Composed of found or
"re-appropriated" materials and an innovative blend of traditional craft and textile
techniques, these three-dimensional narratives expose human discord with nature and with each other.
A resident of Perrysburg, Heard credits Northwest Ohio for refueling her creativity and her artistic
career, as well as her hopes for a healthy, sustainable world. The UK born artist sees the Toledo area
as "a former industrial power battered and weathered by time but still exhibiting hints of its
former self and offering a simmering chance of renewal."
Since her last exhibition at River House Arts in 2010, Heard’s work has been juried into more than a
dozen regional, national, and international exhibitions.
Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesdays through Saturdays.
