Alan Smith on cello and Thomas Rosen-kranz on piano will present the world premier performance of "The Highwayman" by Wallace DePue, Sr., professor emeritus Wednesday at 8 p.m. in Bryan Recital Hall in Bowling Green State University's College of Musical Arts.
DePue composed the piece based on the famous Alfred Noyes' poem as a memorial to Smith's late wife, Diana, who died Oct. 12, 2007. She was a pianist who often collaborated with her husband.
Devin Klinger will narrate "The Highwayman."
Smith and Rosenkranz will also perform "Suite in Old Style" by Alfred Schnittke. The piece originally for piano and violin was arranged by Smith for piano and cello.
