Piano students to play selections from 'Rudolph'
TONTOGANY - The Grand Rapids Arts Council is presenting Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer at 3 p.m. on Sunday, December 15 in the Otsego Elementary School Commons.
Piano students of Lynne Long will be performing songs from the popular musical, along with many other Christmas favorites.  Participating will be:  Nathaniel Born, Ava Bowen, Abby Eberly, Jacob Fritz, Sammy Head, Abigail Hergert, Elijah Hergert, Joshua Hergert, Naomi Hergert, Ruth Hergert, Gabriella Hoag, Jason Hoag, Bethany Horen, Jason Jones, Zach Jones, Nick Korducki, Sarah Korducki, Alexander Landgraf, Christian Morgan, Micha Shank, Brooke Simon, Morgan Simon, and Moira Yaney.

Retired Otsego teacher Ware exhibits pastels PDF Print E-mail

PERRYSBURG -  "Pastel Travelogue," an exhibit of paintings by Beth Ware, is now on display at Starbucks, 3145 Levis Commons Blvd.
The "Pastel Travelogue" exhibit features a body of work rendered in pastels that capture scenes from the artist's recent travels to places including Vietnam, Bangkok and Italy. She favors pastels for their bold, vivid colors.
Ware is a recently retired public school Visual Arts Instructor from Otsego Local School District. She has studied at Bowling Green State University and the University of Toledo.
The show is sponsored by the PRIZM Creative Community as part of its Art in Public Places Program.

Perrysburg Chorale offers free holiday performance
PERRYSBURG - The Perrysburg Symphony Chorale will present a free Holiday Cheer Concert at St. Rose Catholic Church, 214 E. Front St. Saturday  at 7:30 p.m.
The program includes holiday favorites and a sing-along. Pieces to be performed include "'Twas the Night Before Christmas," "Sleigh Ride," "White Christmas," "Santa Claus is Comin' to Town" and "Do You Hear What I Hear."
A visit from Santa Claus is expected.

PERRYSBURG — The film noir thriller “The Third Man” will be shown at Way Public Library Dec. 12 at 10 a.m. as part of the Reel Talk Series.
The 1949 film, based on a novel by Graham Greene, stars Joseph Cotten and Orson Welles and was set and  filmed in the crumbling and corrupt post-War Vienna.
Dennis Vaughn, an area film buff, will be the guest speaker.

TOLEDO - Tattoo artist Paul Timman to discuss the relationships between art, tattooing and life during a free Masters Series lecture Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Toledo Museum of Art Peristyle.
Dubbed the "Rembrandt of Sunset Strip," his clients include Angelina Jolie, Tommy Lee and Mark Wahlberg's.      
In anticipation of his talk, the Museum has partnered with Timman on TMA Top Ink, a search for the region's best Japanese-inspired body art judged by the tattoo artist.
His appearance and the TMA Top Ink competition are inspired by the Museum's fall exhibition Fresh Impressions: Early Modern Japanese Prints, a collection of 343 woodblock prints from the early 20th century. Japanese woodblock prints, especially those from the Edo period, have had a "profound effect" on tattooing, he said.
