Tuesdays at the Gish continues its spring season with "Teenagers from Outer Space." This 1959 cult classic pits aliens versus humans and includes tacky laser sounds complete with poorly made costumes and atrocious acting. The screening begins at 7:30 p.m. in BGSU's Gish Film Theater in Hanna Hall.

Viola students of Matthew Daline will perform at 7:30 p.m. at the Manor House in Wildwood Metropark of Toledo.

Composition faculty - Christopher Dietz, Mikel Kuehn, Elainie Lillios and Marilyn Shrude - will perform and discuss their compositions at 8 p.m. in Bryan Recital Hall of Moore Musical Arts Center.

Master of Fine Arts students Dan Lambert and Catherine Carberry will read their work at 7:30 p.m. in Prout Chapel in the Creative Writing Program's Reading Series, co-sponsored by the College of Arts and Sciences and the Mid-American Review.

The International Film Series kicks of the semester with a screening at 7:30 p.m. in  Gish Film Theater of the 2007 South Korean film "Milyang" ("Secret Sunshine"), by director, novelist and former Minister of Culture Lee Chang-dong.  The movie stars Cannes Best Actress winner Jeon Do-yeon as a widowed piano teacher who moves her son from Seoul to her husband's hometown to start fresh.

The University Choral Society will join the Toledo Symphony Orchestra to perform Carl Orff's "Carmina Burana." at 8 p.m. in the Peristyle of the Toledo Museum of Art. For ticket information, call the symphony's box office (419) 246-8000.

The semi-final round of the  David D. Dubois Piano Competition begins at 10 a.m. in Kobacker Hall of the Moore Musical Arts Center. Participating will be accomplished young pianists from across the nation including international students from Michigan's Interlochen Arts Academy.

The piano duo Greg Anderson and Elizabeth Joy Roe will perform at 8 p.m. in Kobacker Hall. They will perform works for piano four hands and two pianos by W.A. Mozart, Georges Bizet and Astor Piazzolla, and an arrangement of Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean." Before the performance, a free forum will be conducted from 7:15 to 7:45 p.m. in Bryan Recital Hall. The annual Undergraduate Art and Design Exhibition opens at 10 a.m. and continues through Feb. 24 in the Dorothy Uber Bryan and Willard Wankelman galleries of the Fine Arts Center. An opening reception will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, 6 to 9 p.m. Thursdays, and 1 to 4 p.m. Sundays.

The finals of David D. Dubois Piano Competition, featuring guest judges Greg Anderson and Elizabeth Joy Roe will be 9 a.m. to noon in Kobacker Hall.

FEB. 11
Brass and percussion sextet Meridian Arts Ensemble will perform at 8 p.m. at the Cla-Zel ,127 N. Main Street, Bowling Green as part of the Music at the Forefront series sponsored by the MidAmerican Center for Contemporary Music. The ensemble has nine commercial CD releases and focuses on blending traditional music with a contemporary sensibility.

FEB. 12
Brass and percussion sextet Meridian Arts Ensemble will perform at 8 p.m. in Bryan Recital Hall as part of the Music at the Forefront series.

"Made for Each Other," a 1939 John Cromwell film featuring Carole Lombard and Jimmy Stewart, will be shown at 7:30 p.m. in Gish Film Theater.

Cello students of Alan Smith will perform at 7:30 p.m. at the Manor House in Wildwood Metropark in Toledo.

FEB. 13
Alan Smith on cello and Thomas Rosenkranz on piano will present the world premier performance of "The Highwayman" by Wallace DePue, Sr., professor emeritus at 8 p.m. in Bryan Recital Hall as well as "Suite in Old Style" by Alfred Schnittke. The DePue piece was written as a memorial to Smith's late wife, Diana.
