BGSU art students honored PDF Print E-mail

The Bowling Green State University School of Art recently honored undergraduate students at the recent Undergraduate Exhibition.
Zak Tietjen won the Medici Circle Best of Show Award for his animated video "Off Daze."
His work was selected for the honor by jurors Arturo Rodriguez, of the University Toledo, and Katie MacDonald, of the University of Michigan.
Other awards bestowed by the jurors were to: Derek Brennan, Ringholz Art Supply Award-2D; Lucas Pointon, Ringholz Art Supply Award-3D; Emily Short, Marietta Kirschner Wigg Print Award; Heather Sudman. Main Street Photo Award; Dana King, Kohne Camera & Photo Award; and Lila Marty, BGSU Alumni Association Award.
Kelsey Ferencz received the James W. Strong Outstanding Undergraduate prize given by the faculty.
Other Strong Scholarship winners were: Dana King, 2D; Adrianna Schlemmer, 3D; Benjamin Rubey, digital arts; Lila Marty, graphic design; Breanna Henderson, art education; Nichole Schelling, art history; and Elizabeth Jaszczak, SACI.
Other recipients of faculty awards were: Ryan O'Dea, Dr. Beth Casey Student Sculpture Award; Amber Whitenburg, Candace "Candy" Ducat Book Scholarship; Lila Marty, Eugene Fenn Endowed Scholarship; Molly Thobe, Charles and Carol Harper Book Award-art education; Nichole Schelling, Charles and Carol Harper Book Award-art history; Alexandria Schultz, Doris Marie Herner Award;  Elizabeth Jaszczak, Thomas Hilty Scholarship; Katie Bocian, Charles Lakofsky Art Scholarship Award; Cori Crumrine, Aaron Macy Memorial Scholarship; Elise Graham, John and Norma Richards Design Award; Kallie Stuckey, Silvia Passerini Davenport Design Award; and Nicole Szparagowski, Craig A. Schnuth Memorial Glass Award.
Awards in different media were also awarded.
First places finishers were:  Tietjen, "Off Daze," animation, interactive and video; Tifft, untitled, digital imaging; Stoldt, "Blue, drawing; Allison Gehres, "Awareness," "Ceramics; Lila Marty, "Steamy," design; Zach Minnich, "Cups," glass; Lucas Pointon, "The Rat," metals and jewelry; Derek Brennan, "The Old Dog and Bo," painting; Dana King, "Carol, Mother," photography; Emily Short, "No Soul," printmaking; Davey Brown, "Urban Numbness," sculpture.
The School of Art's BFA senior exhibits open in the university galleries March 24, followed by the exhibits featuring work of MFA students.
